Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) team at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital. As a PICU Registered Nurse, you will provide direct patient care to critically ill children, working collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.
Job SummaryProvides direct nursing care to critically ill children in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, utilizing advanced critical thinking and clinical skills to assess, plan, and implement individualized patient care plans. Collaborates with the healthcare team to ensure seamless patient care and coordinates with families to provide emotional support and education.
Responsibilities- Assesses and prioritizes patient needs, developing and implementing individualized care plans to meet the unique needs of each patient.
- Provides direct patient care, including medication administration, wound care, and respiratory support, as needed.
- Collaborates with the healthcare team to ensure accurate and timely communication, coordinating patient care and addressing any concerns or issues that arise.
- Provides emotional support and education to patients and families, promoting a positive and supportive environment.
- Participates in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the development and implementation of evidence-based practices to improve patient outcomes.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current RN license in the state of practice.
- Minimum 6 months of experience in pediatric critical care, with a strong foundation in critical thinking and clinical skills.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification, or equivalent.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, prioritizing multiple tasks and responsibilities while maintaining a high level of patient care.
