Critical Care Nurse

Job Summary:
The University of California, Irvine is seeking a skilled Critical Care Nurse to join our team in the ICU department at our Los Alamitos location. As a Critical Care Nurse, you will provide individualized care to critically ill patients and their families, emphasizing the performance of skills for patients who are hemodynamically unstable or require specialized nursing care and monitoring equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide total care to assigned patients for the entire shift, following established guidelines by AACN in accordance with hospital and unit policies and procedures.
- Emphasize the performance of skills for patients who are hemodynamically unstable or require specialized nursing care and monitoring equipment.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans for critically ill patients.
- Monitor and report changes in patient condition to the healthcare team, ensuring timely interventions and optimal patient outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Current California license and BLS certification.
- ACLS certification (or completion within 30 days of hire).
- Completion of a Critical Care/pharmacology class (proof of course may be based on years of past experience in the Critical Care Setting).
- Completion of a basic dysrhythmia course (proof of course may be based on years of past experience in the Critical Care setting).
- Completion of a basic hemodynamic monitoring course (proof of course may be based on years of past experience in the Critical Care setting).
- Must possess the skill, knowledge, and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties.
- Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures, and forms.
- Membership in a professional organization.
- Basic computer skills.
- Two years recent experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care facility.
- One year recent experience as a Registered Nurse in a Critical Care unit.
