About the Opportunity
The Carruth Center for Counseling and Psychological Services at West Virginia University is seeking a highly skilled Behavioral Health Therapist to join our team. As a Behavioral Health Therapist, you will provide short-term individual and group counseling, crisis management, outreach/consultation, and training for practicum interns at the center.

Responsibilities
- Provide multiculturally-sensitive brief counseling for individuals with diverse presenting concerns.
- Provide clinical services, including assessment, treatment planning, short-term counseling, group therapy, crisis intervention services, psychoeducation, and case management.
- Conduct comprehensive intake evaluations, triage, and participate in CCPPS's crisis intervention services, crisis clinic, and after-hours crisis coverage.
- Administer and document risk assessments and risk reduction interventions.
- Provide consultation and outreach to clients and their families, WVU faculty/staff, and the university community.
- Complete required documentation in an electronic health record system and quality assurance activities.
- Attend case conferences, committees, task forces, and other meetings related to the mission of the Center and the university.
- Provide clinical supervision to trainees and facilitate seminars on clinical or professional topics.
Qualifications
- MA, MS, in social work, counseling, clinical/counseling psychology, or related field.
- Completed master's level practicum/internship or related work experience in providing outpatient counseling to students or a young adult population.
- Demonstrated commitment to cultural humility and affirmative care for all students.
- Knowledge, skills, and expertise required to proficiently conduct, document, and evaluate multiculturally-sensitive intake/triage/crisis assessment, individual, and group counseling, and consultation/outreach across a range of mental health concerns.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience providing clinical services in a multidisciplinary setting.
- Experience providing services to diverse, college-age students or other adults.
- Experience with Excel, Microsoft Access, or similar software.
Requirements
License-eligible; must obtain a Provisional License and/or License (LICSW/LPC) within the State of West Virginia in counseling, psychology, or related field within two years of being hired for the position.
