Position Overview:
A client in Davenport, Iowa is seeking a dedicated and skilled Oncology and Hematology Physician to provide exceptional medical care to individuals diagnosed with cancer and blood disorders. In this role, your proficiency in both oncology and hematology will be essential for diagnosing, treating, and managing patients throughout their treatment journey. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to formulate comprehensive treatment strategies, administer advanced therapies, and offer compassionate support to patients and their families.
Essential Qualifications:
- Graduated from an accredited medical institution with an MD or DO degree
- Possession of a valid medical license in Iowa and Illinois
- Completion of an accredited residency program
- Current DEA certification
- Board certified or board eligible
- Current CPR certification
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and manage patients with various cancers and blood disorders, including solid tumors and hematologic malignancies.
- Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, including detailed medical histories and physical examinations.
- Interpret laboratory results, genetic tests, and imaging studies to determine suitable treatment options.
- Develop personalized treatment plans based on the patient's condition, cancer stage, and medical history, adhering to the latest evidence-based guidelines.
- Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other systemic treatments while monitoring effectiveness and managing side effects.
- Coordinate radiation therapy and surgical interventions as part of a collaborative care approach.
- Provide supportive care to alleviate symptoms such as pain and fatigue related to treatment.
- Work closely with oncology nurses, pharmacists, and social workers to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Communicate effectively with patients and families, explaining diagnoses and treatment options in an empathetic manner.
- Engage in tumor boards and multidisciplinary meetings to discuss complex cases and optimize treatment strategies.
- Stay informed on the latest research and advancements in oncology and hematology.
- Document patient interactions accurately in electronic medical records, ensuring confidentiality.
- Contribute to the education and mentorship of medical students and residents as appropriate.
