Highway Maintenance Specialist

This position is responsible for maintaining the state's highway infrastructure, ensuring the safety of the traveling public. The ideal candidate will have experience in roadway maintenance activities, traffic control operations, and operating medium to heavy-duty equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain roads and highways, including fence repair, sign repair, and roadway patching
- Operate medium to heavy-duty equipment, such as loaders, dump trucks, and rollers
- Perform traffic control operations, including flagging and traffic control set-up or removal
- Utilize the Highway Maintenance Management System
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 6 months of experience maintaining roads and operating medium to heavy-duty equipment
- Valid driver's license and Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Herbicide, Tanker, and/or Hazmat endorsement may be required
This position requires working in varying weather conditions, exposure to hazardous chemicals, and physical strain. The ability to lift up to 50 lbs is required. Frequent temporary assignments that require travel and extended overnight stays are also required.
