The Opportunity

This role is situated within Abbott's Tech Center, focusing on the Electrophysiology (EP) division.

In Abbott's Electrophysiology (EP) sector, we are pioneering advancements in heart disease treatment through innovative medical technologies, particularly in atrial fibrillation, enabling individuals to regain their health and continue their lives.

As a Software Verification Engineer II, you will play a vital role in supporting Abbott's Electrophysiology (EP) software verification team. This dynamic and skilled professional will contribute to our software testing infrastructure for medical device software. The Software Test Automation Engineer will utilize advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts to tackle complex technical challenges and enhance both new and existing infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in the implementation, enhancement, and modification of the test automation framework, automation tools, emulators, test scripts, and code utilizing functional and scripting languages such as Python and C#/C++. Develop innovative solutions to address highly complex issues within the test automation framework. Introduce new tools, techniques, and processes aimed at minimizing test maintenance efforts. Create dynamic solutions to enhance code coverage within the automation framework. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and isolate software issues while providing strategic recommendations for future development. Present findings at design reviews; document and resolve issues as directed. Identify parameters, structures, and critical test components. Write, update, or execute test designs, cases, and procedures, and report results. Conduct formal and informal evaluations of prototypes through structured and ad hoc testing. Assess aspects of new projects or algorithms to validate prototypes and ensure they meet intended use requirements. Identify and resolve issues, escalating as necessary. Adhere to U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Foster positive and collaborative communication with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors. Perform additional related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, a related engineering field, or equivalent, including relevant coursework and/or work experience in product development. 2+ years of progressively responsible work experience in product development and/or a graduate degree with relevant project experience. Strong proficiency in C++ and Python. Proven ability to effectively integrate information from diverse disciplines, including Clinical Engineering, Marketing, and Regulatory Affairs.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced credentials in a relevant discipline/concentration, including Biomedical Engineering. Experience with visual modeling, graphical user interfaces, multi-threading, networking, relational databases, formal software development methodologies, and source code management. Experience in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model is preferred. Ability to operate in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment. Capability to work both collaboratively within a team and independently as a contributor in a fast-paced, evolving environment. Ability to leverage and/or engage others to achieve project goals. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate at multiple organizational levels. Proficient in multitasking, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines in a timely manner. Excellent organizational and follow-up skills, along with attention to detail. Willingness to travel approximately 5%, including internationally. Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
