The Certified Nurse Anesthetist is responsible for administering a variety of anesthesia types, including general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting pre-anesthesia evaluations and managing medications.
- Requesting necessary laboratory and diagnostic tests.
- Administering various anesthesia techniques, including general anesthesia, epidurals, and nerve blocks.
- Demonstrating proficiency in sedation techniques.
- Managing cardiopulmonary resuscitation protocols.
- Conducting both invasive and non-invasive monitoring.
- Providing post-anesthesia care and facilitating patient discharge.
The Department of Anesthesiology at Hendricks Regional Health adopts a collaborative anesthesia care team model, which includes anesthesiologists, certified nurse anesthetists (CRNAs), and student registered nurse anesthetists (SRNAs). Qualifications:
- Graduation from a nurse anesthesia educational program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs.

- Compliance with all applicable state laws and regulations.
