About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Meat Cutter Specialist to join our team at Whole Foods Market. This is a unique opportunity to showcase your expertise in meat cutting, preparation, and presentation while providing exceptional customer service.

Job Responsibilities
  • Cut, prepare, and merchandise various meat products including beef, pork, lamb, veal, and poultry.
  • Prepare specialty meat merchandise such as sausage, oven-ready products, and cured meats.
  • Ensure all products meet WFM quality standards by conducting regular checks.
  • Maintain a well-organized sampling program.
  • Prevent spoilage by monitoring product freshness and suggesting alternatives when necessary.
  • Mentor and support assigned Meat Cutter Trainees in developing their skills and knowledge.
  • Arrive on time, dressed professionally, and ready to work during all scheduled shifts and attend required trainings and meetings.
  • Provide excellent customer service by addressing customer needs promptly and effectively, and modeling suggestive selling techniques.
  • Maximize sales potential through effective prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising of products.
  • Familiarize yourself with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment, adhering to WFM cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned, ensuring accuracy of signs and pricing.
  • Report any safety hazards or violations immediately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by store, regional, or national leadership.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A strong understanding of meat team processes and procedures.
  • Excellent cutting skills with the ability to break down products into sub-primal and retail cuts.
  • Knowledge of different cuts and cooking techniques for meat and seafood.
  • The ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness.
  • Familiarity with market conditions and ability to communicate this information to customers.
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to deliver information clearly and respectfully to fellow Team Members, customers, and vendors.
  • Ability to meet customer service expectations and standards in all interactions.
  • Ability to follow directions and procedures, with effective time management and organization skills.

  • A strong work ethic and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency.

Benefits

This role offers a competitive salary of $55,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on experience, along with benefits such as medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and opportunities for career growth and professional development.
