The Diagnostic Technologist, Lead is responsible for ensuring the quality of radiographic images acquired in Diagnostic Radiology. This includes performing quality control checks, verifying image accuracy, and providing instructions for image repetition when necessary.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for coordinating workflow within Radiology, facilitating the timely acquisition of images and reporting of results. This includes working with the Radiologist to ensure that all necessary information is available for interpretation.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities- Perform technical quality review of images obtained in Diagnostic Radiology, ensuring images are high quality, provide adequate diagnostic information, and are correct, according to the established protocol.
- Verify that images are accurately labeled and that patient information is being managed during digital acquisition, transmission, and storage.
- Ensure that all information, including order requisition, clinical history, and any previous relevant comparison films and reports, are present with current images for interpretation by the Radiologist.
- Coordinate workflow within Radiology to facilitate the acquisition of images and reporting of results using the tracking monitors.
- Report Emergency Department delays to leadership.
- Assume leadership responsibility for patient flow of Radiology Department after normal business hours.
- Act as an onsite radiology resource in the absence of a Supervisor, Manager, or Director. Notify Administrator on Call for assistance as needed.
- Collaborate with Information Systems (IS) to ensure efficient operation of Radiology systems and software.
- Assist other Radiology modalities with IS issues/problems and act as a resource for other modalities/departments throughout the organization.
- Identify opportunities for improvement with image quality and workflow and work with leadership to coordinate the necessary improvement activities.
- Perform radiographic examinations and act as a resource to the department.
- Coordinate the implementation of appropriate downtime procedures for Radiology, in collaboration with Radiology leadership and Information Systems analyst.
- Resolve Picture Archive and Communication System (PACS) exceptions and manage the audit list.
- ARRT registered in Radiologic Technology required.
- AHA BLS Provider CPR required.
- Minimum of one (1) year experience as a Radiologic Technologist.
- Experience with healthcare information systems and Epic preferred.
