POSITION OVERVIEW

The primary responsibility of this role is to safeguard the health and safety of the public by securing the facility against any potential acts of radiological sabotage, assault, or theft of nuclear materials. In accordance with established procedures and the site security plan, you will be tasked with maintaining a secure perimeter for site access and the entry of employees, contractors, and visitors. Duties will include conducting searches, patrols, and inspections as outlined in the Station Security Plan, procedures, and post orders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain qualifications necessary for the role
  • Conduct regular patrols and inspections
  • Monitor access to secure areas
  • Execute search operations
  • Respond to security threats and emergency situations
  • Perform testing of security equipment

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Complete any state-mandated training or licensing requirements
  • Be at least 21 years old
  • Possess a High School diploma or GED
  • Hold a valid Driver's License
  • Pass a drug screening with negative results (unless under documented medical care)
  • Successfully undergo a comprehensive background check, including criminal history, personal references, and verification of employment and education
  • Demonstrate proficiency in operating radio or telephone equipment and surveillance systems
  • Complete all required training for the position
  • Exhibit the ability to interact courteously and communicate effectively with the public
  • Pass post-offer assessments as per federal regulations for armed nuclear security roles, including psychological evaluations, physical examinations (vision and hearing), and fitness tests in accordance with site training and qualification standards.
  • Achieve firearms qualification with handgun, shotgun, and rifle as per site-specific training requirements.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in:

  • Military service
  • Current or former law enforcement or criminal justice roles
  • Commercial security or loss prevention positions
