Department Overview
The Information Technology (IT) division is responsible for the design, development, operation, and maintenance of the technology and telecommunications systems that empower PG&E to fulfill its commitment to delivering safe, reliable, and cost-effective services to its customers.
The Computer Information Systems (CIS) Application Operations team plays a crucial role in ensuring the uninterrupted functionality of the Customer Care and Billing (CC&B) application along with its interfaces. This team oversees all related maintenance tasks, including the deployment of new features, environment upkeep, and incident resolution. The team operates 24/7, with all members participating in on-call responsibilities.
Position Summary
PG&E is in search of a professional to provide senior-level support for the essential CC&B application. The ideal candidate will engage with environment coordinators, managed services operations teams, and the Enterprise Operations Center (ENOC) to deliver knowledgeable, consistent, and timely daily support. Additionally, the candidate will assist in planning and scheduling monthly maintenance and provide front-line support for incident responses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responding to requests across development, testing, and production environments.
- Investigating production issues in interfacing systems and Automic (UC4) scheduled processing.
- Maintaining and distributing operational reports concerning daily and monthly metrics.
- Collaborating with external teams to troubleshoot performance and application issues and implementing solutions as directed.
PG&E provides a salary range that reflects the company's good faith belief regarding compensation for this position at the time of posting. This range is specific to the job's locality. Actual salaries will be determined based on various factors, including specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. While the successful candidate is expected to be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis.
Salary Range:
Bay Area Minimum: $109,000
Bay Area Maximum: $175,000
CA Minimum: $104,000
CA Maximum: $166,000
This position is hybrid, allowing work from a remote office and the assigned work location based on business needs.
Job Responsibilities:
- Reviewing daily processing to maintain the application’s 24-hour operational requirements.
- Supporting Bill Print and Payment Processing functions.
- Conducting day-to-day operations and planned maintenance of Meter-to-Cash Customer Information Applications.
- Troubleshooting performance issues in collaboration with teams outside of technical support.
- Organizing and communicating status updates to peer-level organizations.
- Processing requests for environment coordinators in development and testing regions.
- Developing and analyzing Automic (UC4) batch processing jobs and workflows.
- Providing technical support for new project testing and delivery.
- Analyzing CC&B application and Structured Query Language (SQL) performance.
- Offering end-user support for application developers in development, testing, and production environments.
- Maintaining daily and monthly operational reports and metrics.
Qualifications:
Minimum:
- BA/BS Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 4 years of job-related experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Desired:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
- Experience with 24x7 on-call, front-line support for large distributed applications.
- Familiarity with SQL+ and Oracle SQL Developer.
- Experience with Linux/Unix shell scripting.
- Knowledge of scheduling applications such as Automic (UC4).
- Familiarity with applications for generating and printing customer bills and letters.
- Understanding of Bill Print applications – Ricoh ProcessDirector, PIOM, Spectrum, MailStreamPlus, VeriMove, Mail360, EngageOne Generate, EngageOne Designer, and Kern MailFactory.
- Some knowledge of file transformation, transfer, and notification applications for Payment Processing.
