Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced CT Technologist to join our team at Advocate Health. As a CT Technologist, you will be responsible for operating CT equipment to perform diagnostic procedures, obtaining medical history from patients, and preparing and administering contrast media under the direction of a physician.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate CT Equipment: Competently operate CT equipment to perform basic to advanced diagnostic procedures, including imaging processing, body, head, chest, abdomen, pelvis, contrast, orthopedic, angiography, extremity, and 3D reformatting.
  • Obtain Medical History: Obtain medical history from patients and compare requisitions to physicians' orders to ensure exam accuracy.
  • Prepare Contrast Media: Prepare and administer contrast media under the direction of the physician, and assist in the proper scanning techniques.
  • Post-process Images: Post-process images as directed and accurately identify and label images, including patient name, medical record unit (MRU) number, and location or position of scan on all images.
  • Maintain Records: Maintain records in accordance with various regulatory agencies and enter patient and study information into the radiology information system, and document billing codes of procedures performed to ensure accurate patient charges.
  • Identify Equipment Issues: Identify equipment performance issues and perform equipment quality assurance tests and calibration procedures, and report malfunctioning equipment to appropriate staff.
  • Provide Technical Support: Serve as a technical resource, role model, and/or preceptor for students and staff, and act as a resource to staff at own facility and throughout the system.
  • Perform Patient Positioning: Perform various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
  • Meet Age-Specific Requirements: Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, and demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
Requirements
  • Licensure and Registration: Radiographer license issued by the state of Wisconsin, and Registered Technologist (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), and Computed Tomography (CT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) needs to be obtained within 18 months.
  • Education: Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Radiologic Technology.
  • Experience: No experience required.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and radiation safety, competent in IV and venipuncture (if required by facility), excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient service skills, ability to work independently, and intermediate computer skills.
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders frequently throughout the workday, and must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs. over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
