Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our Critical Care team at Huntsville Hospital. As a Nurse Practitioner in our CVICU/PCV department, you will provide comprehensive direct patient care and scholarly practice, including obtaining comprehensive patient histories, performing complete physical examinations, ordering and performing diagnostic testing and screening, diagnosing illness, prescribing both pharmacological and other treatments for patients, and providing health maintenance and promotion interventions such as patient and family education and counseling.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care to critically ill patients in the CVICU/PCV department
  • Obtain comprehensive patient histories and perform complete physical examinations
  • Order and perform diagnostic testing and screening as needed
  • Diagnose illness and prescribe treatment for patients
  • Provide health maintenance and promotion interventions, including patient and family education and counseling
  • Assume accountability for indirect care responsibilities, including staff and student education, clinical research, program development, and quality improvement
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university
  • Successful completion of a National Certification Exam for NP
  • Current registration through the Alabama board of Nursing and Board of Medical Examiners
  • Approval of the Huntsville Hospital credentialing board
  • Minimum 3 years full-time ER or Critical Care RN and/or CRNP experience
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of all equipment and materials required for procedures described in the Emergency Care Center Policy/Procedure Manual and Nursing Service Procedure Manual
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers certification
  • ACLS certification within the first 6 months of employment and maintained current
  • TNCC certification within the first 2 years of employment and maintained current
