We are seeking a skilled Plumbing Instructor to join our team at Halifax Community College. As a Plumbing Instructor, you will be responsible for delivering instruction in the plumbing field of study and student success at Roanoke River Correctional Institution.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement course syllabi, outlines, and lesson plans for curriculum courses assigned.
- Review and select appropriate textbooks and instructional materials and media for the classes to be taught.
- Develop lectures, classroom activities, shop, hands-on exercises, and/or actual work site exercises for students to participate and learn.
- Coordinate shop schedules and ensure shop supplies are available for shop classes.
- Monitor and record student progress in courses.
- Administer tests or other evaluation methods to students; grade and give feedback on exercises, homework assignments, and tests.
- Keep records of student attendance and serve as advisor to assigned students.
- Plumbing certification/licensure.
- Industry experience.
- Ability to work with a diverse population located at a correctional facility.
- Follow North Carolina Department of Public Safety (DPS) requirements by adhering to all DPS requirements to enter and work in the prison.
- AAS Degree in Plumbing Technology and 5 years work experience.
- Prior teaching experience.
