Job Summary

The Certified Nursing Assistant - Dementia Care Specialist partners with our residents and other care providers to create a safe and comfortable therapeutic environment by providing direct and indirect care.

At St. Mary's Health System - Lewiston, ME, we are committed to delivering high-quality care to our residents. Our 31-bed specialized unit, 3 East, is dedicated to providing care to individuals with Alzheimer's and dementia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct care to residents, including bathing, dressing, and grooming
  • Assist with daily living activities, such as feeding, toileting, and transferring
  • Use verbal and non-verbal communication techniques to understand and respond to resident needs
  • Work collaboratively with other care providers to develop and implement individualized care plans
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to enhance skills and knowledge
Requirements
  • Graduate of a Maine State Board-approved CNA course
  • Valid certification on the State of Maine CNA registry
  • 1-3 years of previous CNA experience preferred
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Ability to work well within a team of other care providers
  • Flexibility to work 24 hours/day, 7 days a week
