About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Shop Mechanic 2nd Shift Technician to join our team at The H&K Group. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our heavy equipment fleet.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel, gasoline, and electric vocational trucks
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues using technical knowledge and experience
  • Install new ignition systems, align front wheels, change or recharge batteries, and replace transmissions and other parts
  • Replace gas or diesel engines and examine protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks and equipment
  • Lubricate and service vehicles, fabricate special lifting or towing attachments, hydraulic systems, shields, or other devices according to schematic drawings
  • Collide repair, sand, prep, and paint
  • Complete all standard maintenance on trucks and equipment and ensure state inspection requirements are met for cars, trucks, and trailers
Requirements
  • One-year certificate from an accredited college or technical school in diesel mechanics or a related field, or 2 years of related experience and/or training
  • Class A or B CDL or ability to obtain within one year
  • Clean driving record
  • Customer Service and Teamwork
  • Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to work a 2nd shift schedule and meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)
Preferred Qualifications
  • 4 years of related experience and/or training
  • State Inspection license
  • Experience working in heavy civil construction, road construction, or quarries
  • OSHA, MSHA, or other relevant safety certifications
