**Job Summary**

We are seeking a highly skilled Claims Examiner to join our team. As a Claims Examiner, you will investigate, evaluate, and negotiate settlements of specific categories of claims in an office setting.

**Key Responsibilities**

• Verify coverage on loss assignments.
• Promptly contact, and maintain contact, with insureds and claimants.
• Establish reserves and update as needed.
• Comply with regulatory guidelines.
• Determine covered damages using provided resources.
• Investigate losses and apply policy coverage.
• Determine legal liability for losses and damages.
• Effect payment or denial of claims.
• Maintain current, detailed notes and report on details of claims in various stages of development.
• Manage/control expenses.
• Attend various meetings/classes on behalf of the company.

**Requirements**

• A bachelor's degree or comparable work experience is preferred.
• Good oral and written communication skills are also required.
• Must be able to conduct business in a professional manner by telephone or written communication and must be able to deal effectively with the public in stressful situations.
• Dependable, responsible person must be able to work independently and as a team member.
• Maintain CE in compliance with N.C. Department of Insurance and NC Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company requirements.
