Job Summary

The Maintenance Worker will perform general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities, including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect and identify equipment or machines in need of repair.
  • Troubleshoot issues to determine necessary repairs.
  • Plan repair work using building blueprints or equipment manuals as needed.
  • Perform general repairs that do not require a specialized technician, such as repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures.
  • Perform routine maintenance on building systems and grounds, including snow removal and yard work.
  • Clean and assist with upkeep of the facilities.
  • Order supplies and materials needed for repairs and maintenance.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Demonstrate sound judgment, patience, and maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
  • Ability to work in a busy and stressful environment.
  • Ability to work varied shifts.
  • Detail-oriented, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize.
  • Lifting, pushing, and pulling: lift 50 pounds of weight, carry equipment/supplies, use upper body strength for repair and maintenance work, and complete work from a ladder while kneeling or lying down.
  • Extended hours: the role may involve working for extended periods, requiring sitting, walking, or standing for eight or more hours daily.
  • Flexible schedule: the position may necessitate working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts.
  • On-call availability: on-call work may be required to respond promptly to organizational, patient, and employee needs.
  • Effective communication: proficient in effective communication, both in person and through various technologies.
  • Handling challenging situations: the role may involve dealing with upset individuals, requiring the ability to de-escalate situations and work effectively with frustrated patients or families.
  • Repetitive tasks: ability to perform repetitive tasks as needed to fulfill job responsibilities.
Exposures

Job tasks may involve exposure to bloodborne pathogens, radiation in settings where medical imaging procedures are performed, various chemicals and medications used in healthcare settings, and infectious diseases due to contact with patients in areas that may have contagious illnesses.
