Job Summary

At Williamson Health, we are seeking a skilled Pediatric Inpatient Nurse to join our team. As a Pediatric Inpatient Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to children and their families in a fast-paced inpatient setting.

Responsibilities

Coordinate, implement, and plan nursing care in a timely and accurate manner.
Perform comprehensive assessments on all patients within the appropriate time of admission.
Plan the patient's care on an individual basis, identifying problems/needs, nursing diagnosis, standards of care/practice, interventions consistent with identified problems and attainable outcomes.
Function independently with treatments, procedures, and equipment appropriate to areas, evidenced by adherence to policy, procedure, and competency-based assessment and no pattern or trend of problem.

Requirements

Licensed by the State of Tennessee.
Earned a nursing diploma or degree from a college or university.
One year of pediatric ED or in-hospital experience preferred.
BLS within 90 days of hire.
PALS within six months of hire.
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) initial certification within one year of employment; certification required bi-annually.

Work Environment

The Pediatric Inpatient Nurse will work in a medical/surgical unit with a patient population ranging from less than one year of age to 21 years of age. The ability to work well under pressure, to function dependently and independently, and to be flexible in applying basic nursing knowledge to a variety of settings is essential.

Physical Effort

The Pediatric Inpatient Nurse will require prolonged standing and working for up to twelve hours a day. Constantly required to push/pull objects up to 175 lbs. Requires the ability to lift and turn patients with assistance up to 250 lbs.

Performance Standards

The Pediatric Inpatient Nurse will be responsible for performing a comprehensive assessment on all patients within the appropriate time of admission, planning the patient's care on an individual basis, and functioning independently with treatments, procedures, and equipment appropriate to areas. The nurse will also be responsible for handling, transporting, storing, preparing, and administering medications/solutions safely and in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
