Job Title: Deputy District Attorney

Job Summary:

The County of Madera is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy District Attorney to join our team. As a key member of our District Attorney's Office, you will be responsible for providing professional legal services related to criminal law, including investigation and prosecution of cases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate incoming law enforcement reports and review cases to determine the appropriate charges.
  • Prepare and present cases in court, including arraignments, evidentiary hearings, and trials.
  • Interview witnesses and victims, and review evidence and police reports to build strong cases.
  • Provide direction to law enforcement and investigative personnel on investigation of criminal offenses.
  • Negotiate with defense counsel on case disposition or modification.
  • Make court appearances on behalf of the District Attorney's Office, including sentencing and appellate issues.

Requirements:

  • Equivalent to a Juris Doctorate from a school of law.
  • Possession of an active membership in the State Bar of California.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex information and make sound decisions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
