About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Documentation Manager to join our team at Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. As a key member of our Software Builder Experience organization, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive content strategy that supports the success of our developers worldwide.

Key Responsibilities
  • Hire and grow a team of programmer/technical writers and editors to support the development of high-quality documentation.
  • Define the overall content strategy across specific developer tools and end-to-end development workflows, ensuring that our documentation meets the needs of our customers.
  • Lead the direction for the documentation authoring tools used by writers and software development teams, ensuring seamless collaboration and productivity.
  • Collect feedback from customers on how to improve the documentation, using existing feedback mechanisms or inventing new ones to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Influence the product direction of the tools our team collaborates with to provide an ideal development experience.
About the Team

You will be part of a dynamic team that includes product teams located across multiple locations, including Seattle, Arlington, and Sydney. Our team is committed to furthering our culture of inclusion, with thirteen employee-led affinity groups and innovative benefit offerings.

Requirements
  • 5+ years' experience in a technical writing role, with a strong ability to work across teams and groups to accomplish objectives.
  • 5+ years' experience writing for a developer or IT operations (DevOps) audience, with a strong understanding of web services and object-oriented programming languages.
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience in hiring and growing a team of programmer/technical writers and editors.
