Oncology Nurse Practitioner

The Oncology Nurse Practitioner is a key member of the healthcare team, responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients with cancer. This role requires a high degree of clinical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive health histories and physical assessments of patients with cancer.
- Establish medical diagnoses and develop treatment plans in collaboration with patients and healthcare teams.
- Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and their families, addressing their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
- Coordinate care with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and therapists.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including chemotherapy and other therapies.
- Monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans as needed, and provide ongoing education and support.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure safe, effective, and high-quality patient care.
- Graduate of an approved Nurse Practitioner Program.
- Five years of RN nursing experience in an acute care hospital, with some advanced nursing work experience preferred.
- One year of experience as an Oncology Nurse Practitioner.
- Certification by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners or the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
- Licensure by the Tennessee State Board of Nursing and in good standing.
- DEA License.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ACLS).
The Oncology Nurse Practitioner will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, interacting with patients, families, and healthcare professionals. The role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team setting.
Physical DemandsThe Oncology Nurse Practitioner will be required to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods, with occasional lifting and bending. The role may also involve exposure to infectious and contagious diseases, as well as occasional irregular work hours.
