Chief of Thoracic Anesthesia

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief of Thoracic Anesthesia to lead our Thoracic Anesthesia team. As a key member of our Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine, you will be responsible for overseeing the onboarding process for new faculty, maintaining the highest level of expertise within the team, and supervising the standardization of day-to-day clinical operations.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in thoracic anesthesia, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to interface with the leadership of Thoracic Surgery and Interventional Pulmonology services to create an efficient surgical workflow. You will also be responsible for collaborating with the Anesthesia Site Chief and the Chief of Thoracic Surgery and IP to implement evidence-based ERAS protocols for patients undergoing thoracic procedures.

Responsibilities- Oversee the onboarding process for new faculty
- Maintain the highest level of expertise within the team
- Supervise standardization of day-to-day clinical operations
- Interface with leadership of Thoracic Surgery and IP services
- Collaborate with Anesthesia Site Chief and Chief of Thoracic Surgery and IP
- Train and supervise residents and CRNAs
- Support professional and clinical advancement of faculty
- Evaluate and maintain equipment and supplies
- Educate the Anesthesiology Department in advancements for Thoracic Anesthesia and IP
- Support and conduct collaborative research in advancement of Thoracic Anesthesia
- MD, DO, or foreign equivalent and qualify for a Massachusetts license
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anesthesiology
