Sawmill Technician (Edger) Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Sawmill Technician (Edger) to join our team at Interfor in Bay Springs, MS. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the edger, ensuring high-quality lumber production and maintaining a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate the edger to straighten and trim edges of rough lumber and saw lumber into boards of required widths.
  • Start transfer chains and scan boards to determine optimal cut for maximum productivity, quality, and grade.
  • Identify and resolve downtime issues promptly to minimize production losses.
  • Clear cross-ups and jams at the edger and outfeed.
  • Perform daily equipment maintenance, including cleaning the scanner frame and inspecting, greasing, and servicing equipment.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations, including lockout/tag-out procedures.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of sawmill operations and equipment.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Ability to recognize and resolve problems promptly.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Positive attitude and adaptability in a fast-paced production environment.
