Overview of the Unit

Our Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit is a 64-bed facility dedicated to assisting patients in overcoming both functional and medical challenges. We cater to orthopedic patients recovering from procedures such as hip fractures, complex knee replacements, and back surgeries involving neurological issues, as well as multi-trauma cases and other orthopedic conditions. Additionally, we support neurology patients who are recuperating from strokes, brain and spinal cord tumors, traumatic brain injuries, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, and various cancer diagnoses that have led to functional decline. Our unit also accommodates patients who have undergone amputations and those facing complex medical or surgical challenges. Each patient engages in 15 hours of therapy throughout the week, with nursing staff continuing the interventions practiced during therapy sessions to ensure safe mobility. For many, rehabilitation is crucial for returning home to their families, making this a highly rewarding environment for staff as we witness the progress patients make towards their recovery goals.

Responsibilities

The Nursing Assistant will provide patient care in accordance with the established care plan, unit protocols, and hospital policies under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Key responsibilities include:

  • Safely transporting patients using wheelchairs or stretchers and ensuring accurate documentation of services provided.
  • Serving as an Observer for patients requiring constant monitoring, either in person or through remote video systems, to enhance their safety.
  • Performing general receptionist and clerical tasks to support the efficient operation of the nursing unit.
  • Documenting care provided in the electronic medical record system.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Previous experience in a hospital or nursing home setting is preferred.
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is mandatory.
  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification is preferred.

Employment Details

This position is full-time, with night shifts available. Weekly scheduled hours are 36, with shifts running from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM, including work on weekends every third weekend.
