This position is located in a State or Area Office in USDA/Rural Development (RD). The incumbent performs loan processing and servicing assignments of limited scope, working under general supervision for some regularly assigned responsibilities, such as the examination of supporting documents.
Key Responsibilities- Reviews and analyzes preapplications, applications, and all supporting documents to determine loan or grant eligibility and inputs data into appropriate automated database system.
- Analyzes financial and credit data documents to make sound eligibility, feasibility, and credit-worthiness determinations.
- Prepares written loan/grant recommendations and submits to supervisor for review.
- You must be a US Citizen or US National.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
- Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
- Successful completion of one year probationary period, unless previously served.
- Direct Deposit - Per Public Law 104-134 all Federal employees are required to have federal payments made by direct deposit to their financial institution.
- Successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.
Time in grade: Current federal employees applying for a promotion opportunity must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirement of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.
For the GS-07 level: Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05; or its non-Federal equivalent that demonstrates: basic knowledge of loan examining and/or servicing principles, procedures, and techniques as they apply to investigation, analysis, and evaluation of financial factors and credit risks in relation to the granting and servicing of mortgage loans.
For the GS-9 level: Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07; or its non-Federal equivalent that demonstrates experience assisting higher graded specialists with loan underwriting, for example, experience processing single family loans up to the point of final approval by a specialist with loan approval authority.
EducationUndergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study finance, business administration, economics, accounting, insurance, engineering, mathematics, banking and credit, law, real estate operations, statistics, or other fields related to the position, such as agriculture, agricultural economics, farm, livestock or ranch management, or rural sociology.
