Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, a Level I trauma center and Certified Primary Stroke Center, seeks a skilled Clinical Pharmacist to join our Emergency Medicine team. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care to adult and pediatric patients in a variety of acuity levels, ensuring safe and effective drug therapy.
Responsibilities include collaborating with Emergency Department staff, providing consultation for healthcare providers, educating patients, nurses, and providers, optimizing medication inventory, and reviewing and processing medication orders. This role also involves precepting night shift learning experiences for PGY1 pharmacy residents and PGY2 pharmacy residents in critical care, as well as supporting longitudinal residency precepting commitments.
Qualified candidates must be a graduate of a College of Pharmacy accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) and possess a current Virginia pharmacist license or be eligible for licensure. An ASHP-accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency is required, and specialized PGY2 residency training in Emergency Medicine or Critical Care is preferred. Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills are essential for success in this role.
What We Offer:
Education:
Must be a graduate of a College of Pharmacy accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).
Experience:
ASHP-accredited Pharmacy Practice Residency or three years of previous clinical pharmacy experience in a relevant care setting required for all new hires or transfers.
Licensure, certification, and/or registration:
License to practice Pharmacy in the Commonwealth of Virginia required within 90 days of hire.
During the first 90 days of employment and the licensure application process, pharmacists without a valid license to practice pharmacy in the Commonwealth of Virginia may not perform duties restricted to a licensed pharmacist until the license is obtained.
If the license is not obtained within 90 days of employment, the employee may be subject to separation from Carilion Clinic.
Other Minimum Qualifications:
Must possess good leadership, communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills. Must be able to effectively budget time, work efficiently and accurately, and follow procedures with minimum supervision. Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills. Work requires knowledge of general office equipment and procedures, including computer and keyboarding skills. All pharmacists must complete an Orientation Competency.
