Overview of the Lead Building Automation Technician Role

In the capacity of a Lead Building Automation Technician, your primary responsibility will be the comprehensive execution of building automation initiatives. This role involves the development and implementation of minor retrofit and enhancement projects, while also serving as the project supervisor and manager for larger designed projects with budgets reaching up to $500,000. For projects exceeding this budget, you may act as the superintendent in collaboration with a dedicated Project Manager. The expertise required for this position encompasses system design, component selection, installation, programming, commissioning, and operational verification Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • A minimum of 5 years of in-depth knowledge of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems, including their various components and operational processes.
  • Over 5 years of experience with diverse design concepts.
  • At least 5 years of understanding of fundamental physical principles.
  • A minimum of 5 years of expertise in computers, electronics, and electrical circuits, and their interrelations.
  • More than 5 years of knowledge in engineering and technology, including relevant principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment.
  • At least 5 years of experience in documentation and recording processes.
  • A minimum of 5 years of familiarity with building and construction materials, tools, and methodologies.
  • Over 5 years of customer service experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in developing and authoring programming logic.
  • Tridium N4 Certification is required or the ability to obtain it within one year.
  • An Associate's degree is preferred, or equivalent experience.
