We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse to join our team at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. As a PACU RN, you will provide specialized care to patients undergoing surgical procedures, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the perioperative continuum.
Responsibilities- Assess and prepare patients for procedures, recognizing contraindications for anesthesia and surgical intervention.
- Perform clinical assessments, applying post-sedation scoring and evaluating patients' postoperative status, including cardiovascular and respiratory systems, airway management needs, neurological system, hemodynamic stability, pain, and comfort needs, and mental status.
- Implement appropriate interventions to maintain or return physiological systems to baseline or above.
- Document comprehensive and accurate information in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care transitions and optimal patient outcomes.
- Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
- Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
- At least one year of ICU or previous PACU experience preferred.
- Competitive salary and regular salary increases.
- 50 days of paid time off per year.
- Traditional federal pension and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA.
- Federal health, vision, dental, term life, and long-term care insurance.
