Job Summary:
The Reference Librarian provides expert reference services, creates tutorials, and delivers library instruction to support the academic success of students, faculty, and staff. This part-time position requires a strong commitment to delivering high-quality services and a willingness to adapt to emerging technologies.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide individual and group reference services, both in-person and online, using various platforms and tools.
- Collaborate with the Instruction Coordinator and Reference Librarian to develop and maintain the library's web services, including LibGuides, FAQs, and online tutorials.
- Stay up-to-date with current professional library practices, including reference interviewing and teaching techniques.
- Maintain knowledge of the library's print and electronic collections and effectively communicate their resources to patrons.
- Design and deliver instruction in the use of library resources, including tutorials, subject guides, and graded assignments.
- Utilize web and media design tools, software, and systems, including discovery search systems, LibApps, Microsoft Office, Camtasia, SnagIt, Zoom, and Adobe Creative Suite.
- MLS degree from an ALA-accredited college or university.
- Knowledgeable in providing reference services to students, faculty, staff, and community members.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and other patrons of varying skill and interest levels.
This part-time position requires a flexible schedule, with hours assigned during the window of 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Monday - Thursday, and 10:00 am - 2:00 pm Saturdays.
The Reference Librarian will work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, utilizing PC-based and online databases and programs, scanners, phone, photocopier, and printers.
