The successful candidate will have a proven track record in project planning, equipment planning, estimations, execution, and Commissioning protocols in food, pharmaceutical, or chemical processing facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategy to drive engineering capex and project management in Industrial Spices plants.
  • Develop and revise capex and project management policies and procedures.
  • Accountable to deliver Capex and Project Management portfolio of projects on cost, schedule, and scope through the phases of the projects.
  • Provide subject matter expertise with technical capabilities for Engineering areas across all West Coast facilities.
  • Coach Engineering/Project Managers and Engineers to develop technical quality, engineering, and project management competencies.
  • Report and analyze all engineering metrics.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities on capex and project management.
  • Develop project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans in agreement with stakeholders.
  • Determine project specifications by studying product design, requirements, and performance standards.
  • Review quotes from contractors, prepare cost estimates, and Capex proposals (CARs) as per operations guidelines.
  • Identify project phases and elements. Determine project schedule by studying project plan and specifications.
  • Calculate time requirements by sequencing the project elements.
  • Participate in internal, external customer/contractor meetings and resolve project issues.
  • Prepare project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends, recommending actions.
  • Control project costs by monitoring expenditures and maintain project data base on computer systems/MS Projects through team.
  • Maintain product and company reputation by complying with Regulatory/Statutory regulations.
  • Confirm project performance by conducting tests/trials of installed machinery and implement policies, procedures, and systems for capex management as defined by operations leadership team.
  • Remain abreast of current legislation and ensure corporate compliance.
  • Prepare project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends, recommending actions as warranted.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required. Master's degree is strongly preferred.
  • Fifteen (15) years of related engineering and project management experience in food, pharmaceutical, or chemical processing facilities is required.
  • Proven experience in project planning, equipment planning, estimations, execution, and Commissioning protocols is required.
  • Demonstrated current knowledge of environmental and sustainability initiatives for food business and experience implementing innovative solutions is required.
  • Good working knowledge of regulatory, legislative, and business environment is required. Should have excellent business analysis skills which will be used to create compelling business cases.
  • Candidate should be cost-conscious and able to critically analyze new and existing designs to generate cost reductions.
  • Candidate should be effective at building rapport with stakeholders to achieve a closer working relationship and openness.
  • Effective leadership and facilitator abilities within a team is required. Should have the ability to influence and manage other internal customers and external suppliers/contractors to ensure the timely success of the project.
  • Successful candidate should have a working knowledge of regulatory requirements and processes to obtain Authority to Construct (ATC) and permits to implement various capex projects.
  • Basic understanding of performance contracts, regulatory, and business environment is required.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical disciplines, production personnel, and executives, both internal and external is required.

Compensation

The pay for this role in the state of CA ranges from $170,000 - $221,000 and is based on the position responsibilities and geographic location. Actual pay within this range may be determined based on candidate's experience, qualifications, and/or other determining factors.
