Position: Heavy Machinery Technician
Location: Fort Sill, OK
Job Overview:
The Heavy Machinery Technician is responsible for executing a comprehensive range of repair and enhancement tasks on heavy machinery and military vehicles. This includes, but is not limited to, commercial, non-tactical, tactical, and tracked vehicles, as well as passenger cars, trucks, forklifts, warehouse tractors, and large military tanks.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct thorough engine diagnostics on all systems and components.
2. Replace and adjust tracks, road wheels, bearings, and oil seals; perform suspension repairs including arms and stabilizer bars.
3. Repair braking systems by addressing hydraulic issues, including master cylinders.
4. Adjust power and mechanical steering systems as necessary.
5. Assess the nature and extent of required repairs and execute both major and minor repairs on engines, power transmissions, and related assemblies.
6. Utilize technical manuals and publications to identify and procure necessary repair parts.
7. Operate and inspect machinery to diagnose defects.
8. Dismantle and reassemble equipment using hoists and hand tools.
9. Examine components for damage or excessive wear using testing equipment such as compression testers and gauges.
10. Test overhauled machinery to ensure optimal performance.
Work Schedule:
May require working non-standard hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Military or civilian training in heavy machinery maintenance.
- Minimum of two years of experience as a heavy machinery technician, helper, or apprentice.
- Valid Oklahoma Driver's License.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Comprehensive understanding of two and four-cycle engine operations.
- Proficient knowledge of all engine systems.
- Ability to pass a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) for computer access.
- Capability to assist in lifting and transporting equipment weighing up to 75 pounds.
- Experience with military equipment is preferred.
