Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse in our Neuroscience and Trauma Intermediate Care Unit, you will provide direct nursing care to patients requiring complex assessments and interventions. You will work collaboratively with the interprofessional team to develop and implement individualized plans of care, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities and Requirements
  • Obtain comprehensive data from patients, families, and other healthcare providers to develop a holistic picture of patient needs or conditions.
  • Analyze and synthesize data to determine diagnoses or conditions relevant to care.
  • Identify optimal outcomes for patients in collaboration with patients, families, and the interprofessional team.
  • Develop plans that prescribe strategies and alternatives to attain outcomes, using clinical judgment in collaboration with patients, families, and the interprofessional team.
  • Implement plans, employing strategies to promote and maintain a safe environment, and coordinate implementation with patients, families, and the interprofessional team.
  • Evaluate processes and progress toward attainment of goals and outcomes.
  • Contribute to the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice, evaluate own practice, and maintain current knowledge and competence.
  • Communicate effectively in all areas of practice, collaborate with patients, families, and the interprofessional team.
  • Use clinical inquiry and integrate best evidence into practice.
Education and Experience

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing. No experience required.

Physical Requirements

Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication. Constant standing and walking. Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs. Frequent sitting, reaching, and keyboard use/data entry. Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors. Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors. Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds, and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc. Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs. Occasional lifting/moving of patients. Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements. Occasional driving. Rare crawling and running.

Required Professional Licenses and Certifications

Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA). Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR). Advanced Life Support (ALS) - American Heart Association (AHA). Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) - Emergency Nurses Association (ENA). Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - American Academy Pediatrics (AAP). Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association (AHA). Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) - Emergency Nurses Association (ENA). Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Essentials - American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).

Work Environment

This is a full-time night shift position working 36 hours per week from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. with an every other weekend rotation and a holiday rotation.
