Maintenance Technician Job Description

About the Role:

A Maintenance Technician at Towneplace Suites Tuscaloosa is responsible for ensuring the hotel's facilities and guest rooms are well-maintained and in good repair. This role requires a skilled tradesperson who can perform a variety of tasks, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and painting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the hotel's guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas in good repair
  • Perform repairs and replacements of items such as light bulbs, faucets, toilets, hardware, filters, paint, furniture, and wall coverings
  • Inspect guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas to identify areas for repair or replacement
  • Assist other department team members in the systematic application of the preventive maintenance program
  • Have basic mechanical aptitude for the operation and repair of hotel facilities and equipment
  • Have working knowledge of basic hand and power tools
  • Be responsible for safety and security of guests, fellow associates, and hotel assets in conjunction with hotel management

Requirements:

  • Able to communicate effectively in writing, by telephone, and in person
  • Able to report to scheduled shifts
  • Able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Maintain a clean and attractive work area, uniform, and person
  • Is organized, honest, and works well with others
  • Can provide personalized, friendly service to every guest and associate
  • Has the highest degree of integrity and is humble, living by the Golden Rule
  • Able to work with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds

  • Be able to bend, reach, kneel, push, and stretch and lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds
  • Can perform work for 8 hours and work in a restrictive space/environment
  • Must have eyesight enabling vision both near and far
  • Must be comfortable using a step stool or ladder
  • Must be able to use/lift arms for up to 8 hours
  • Must be able to handle heat and stress
  • Able to work in varying weather conditions such as heat, cold, rain, etc.
  • Have finger dexterity for operating equipment
  • Must speak in a clear, understandable voice, hear at a basic level, and understand English
  • Must be able to write
