Job Overview

Primary Objective

Responsible for the safe loading, unloading, processing, and storage of both hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials at a licensed waste management facility under supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prioritize Health & Safety by adhering to established policies and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment at all times.
  • Safely load, unload, and process solid and liquid waste in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Execute tasks in a safe manner, strictly following all safety protocols.
  • Operate various equipment including forklifts, Bob Cats with attachments, brooms, shovels, production machinery, palletizers, tractors, ladders, and stairs.
  • Label and tag products and packages appropriately.
  • Package finished goods correctly into designated containers and place them on assigned pallets.
  • Direct liquid waste through pumping systems to storage tanks.
  • Conduct basic spill response and maintain cleanliness in work areas as directed.
  • Perform chemical compatibility assessments to avert reactions and other complications.
  • Utilize barcode systems for tracking inventory activities.
  • Analyze laboratory data to ensure proper handling and disposal of materials.
  • Apply Department of Transportation (DOT) knowledge for matching and labeling incoming materials, as well as for the storage and shipping of containers.
  • Employ appropriate equipment to extract samples for analysis and compatibility testing.
  • Operate hydraulic bailers for cardboard and other materials.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety in operating areas, including walls, pipes, and floors.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of relevant EPA, DOT, OSHA, and permit regulations.
  • Understand Heritage Coding and labeling systems for managing containers.
  • This position involves handling hazardous materials and requires the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as boots, gloves, suits, eye/ear protection, and respirators.

Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent preferred, with one year of consistent work history accepted as a substitute.

Experience: A minimum of one year of relevant experience and a 24-40 hour HAZWOPER certification preferred.

Skills and Competencies: This role is safety-sensitive, requiring constant alertness and safe practices. Basic understanding of EPA, DOT, and OSHA regulations is preferred. Ability to work collaboratively within a team. Must be capable of lifting up to 75 pounds in an outdoor setting during a 12-hour shift. Ability to wear necessary personal protective equipment, including respirators, hard hats, safety boots, protective eyewear, hearing protection, face shields, Tyvek suits, aprons, heavy gloves, and uniforms. Regular and reliable attendance is essential for this position.

A post-offer drug screening will be mandatory.
