Job Summary

The City of Jacksonville, North Carolina is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Police Officer to join our team. As a Police Officer, you will be responsible for enforcing laws, investigating crimes, and providing public safety services to our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce laws and regulations to maintain public safety and order
  • Investigate crimes and gather evidence to support investigations
  • Provide emergency response services, including traffic control and accident response
  • Interact with the public, including victims, witnesses, and suspects
  • Prepare and submit reports and other documentation as required
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred
  • Completion of Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) in the state of North Carolina or equivalent training
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate a vehicle safely
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and make quick decisions in emergency situations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with diverse populations
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous law enforcement experience, preferably in a municipal or county agency
  • Knowledge of law enforcement procedures and protocols
  • Ability to speak a second language, preferably Spanish
