Job Summary

As an Interventional Technologist 2 at CAMC Health System, you will play a critical role in performing specialized imaging procedures, including Interventional procedures, Angiography, and C.T. under the guidance of licensed practitioners. You will utilize your expertise and resourcefulness to provide excellent patient care and customer service to patients of all age groups.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate patient flow throughout the day, serving as a liaison between physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff to facilitate efficient scheduling and care.
  • Assist in pre and post-procedural care, providing instructions to patients to obtain desired results and ensuring their physical and psychological needs are met.
  • Provide patient education and select and operate medical imaging equipment to position patients for optimal examination results.
  • Apply principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others, adhering to ALARA standards and departmental radiation safety guidelines.
  • Assist licensed practitioners during procedures, circulate, and perform nursing duties as needed, utilizing sterile surgical and aseptic techniques and universal precautions.
  • Prepare, identify, and administer contrast media and medications as prescribed by licensed practitioners, and prepare and operate equipment for administration of contrast agents and patient monitoring.
  • Perform angiography procedures at a technical level under the direction of a physician and remove sheaths/angiography procedural catheters, holding pressure on puncture sites and observing for bleeding/hematoma.
  • Maintain knowledge of vascular anatomy, recognize anatomical structures via computer-generated systems, and understand moderate sedation and anesthesia practices.
  • Utilize inventory management systems to monitor and control supplies, replenishing as needed to ensure availability of items.
  • Assist in maintaining patient records, respecting confidentiality and established policy, and evaluate images for technical quality, providing feedback for improvement as needed.
  • Perform data management duties within HIS/RIS systems, input exam charges, and prepare images for digital archiving in PACS systems.
  • Assume responsibility for assigned areas, report equipment malfunctions, and provide practical instruction for new personnel, students, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in the department's quality improvement plan, responsible for quality control duties as assigned, and maintain professional standards in conjunction with practice standards by societies such as ARRT/ASRT/SIRS.
Requirements
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification is required.
  • Amer Reg of Rad Tech CT Interventional certification is preferred.
  • Amer Registry of Rad Techs certification is required.
