Job Summary:

The CDL Driver will be responsible for delivering groceries to retail grocery stores in a multi-state region, following safety procedures and Federal and State laws. The driver will coordinate with the warehouse and customer to provide excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate a tractor trailer to transport product from one destination to another and returns with either the original trailer or a drop trailer.
  • Inspect the tractor-trailer for defects before and after trips and submit a report.
  • Maintain a driver's log in accordance with DOT regulations and comply with Federal rules and regulations.
  • Check all load-related documentation to ensure it is complete and accurate.
  • Obtain receipts or signatures when loads are delivered.
  • Maneuver trucks into loading positions and check that the vehicle position is correct.
  • Transport product to location and assist with unloading product manually or with the use of material handling equipment.
  • Report accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles or trailers immediately.
  • Promote a safe work environment and adhere to OSHA and company safety policies.
Requirements:
  • Must live within 65 miles of the warehouse.
  • Have a Class A CDL, clean driving record, and be an insurable driver.
  • Minimum 100,000 over-the-road miles with tractor/trailer.
  • Be an insurable, safe driver with a good driving record.
  • Provide outstanding customer service during delivery and pickup operations.
  • Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body.
  • Ability to communicate with people outside the organization in a professional manner.
  • Maintain all required certifications required by DOT and OSHA and company safety programs.
  • Must meet attendance requirements.
  • Ability to hear and respond to safety horns, intercom system, and voice communication systems.
  • Ability to identify and sequence numbers correctly.
  • Ability to see details at close range and at a distance.
  • Ability to think, reason, and concentrate.
  • Ability to accept criticism and deal calmly and effectively with high-stress situations.
  • Ability to speak, read, and understand English in a manner that is sufficient for effective communication.
Essential Job Skills:
  • Able to perform simple mathematical calculations.
  • Applies knowledge of commercial driving regulations and skill in maneuvering said vehicle in difficult situations.
  • Dependable - must provide on-time delivery.
  • Must be able to unload product once it has been delivered. Able to unload and lift cases weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to operate and maintain equipment in a safe manner at all times.
  • Must be able to work in severe weather conditions; both heat and cold.
  • Requires prolonged sitting and driving.
  • Ability to make overnight runs as required by shipping needs.
Working Conditions:

The average frequency of cases weigh 20 pounds, frequently cases could weigh 30 pounds, occasionally 50 pounds, and rarely 100 pounds. Considerable physical unloading will occur on track unload stores. Pallet unload stores will still require some physical unloading.

Compensation:

Drivers are based on a 51-hour work week with overtime possible. Pay is $28.20 per hour.
