Are you ready to address global challenges that affect business, society, and the environment? Join us in our mission.

Building the Future of Global Trade

Flexport is developing a state-of-the-art logistics platform designed to simplify global trade for everyone.

We tackle intricate challenges on a worldwide scale, disrupting a multi-trillion dollar industry that has remained largely unchanged.

Our services empower the fastest-growing brands to manage their international supply chains effectively, offering a comprehensive solution for transporting products between any two locations globally.

Our platform is meticulously crafted, integrating data from various sources.

We provide a multitude of data points, and our data architecture is continuously evolving to meet the demands of today's complex global supply chains.

Finance Engineering

Flexport operates as a dual-sided marketplace, providing services to our clients while also procuring services from our suppliers.

The Finance Engineering team is crucial in maintaining the accuracy of Flexport's financial data and overseeing all monetary transactions involving the company.

This encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including systems for invoicing, payments, currency management, risk assessment, and accounts payable processes.

Our team is dedicated to a vital company objective: minimizing financial discrepancies by ensuring that all costs incurred by Flexport are accurately allocated to the appropriate parties.

We aim to create solutions that not only satisfy our clients but also reduce expenses by automating processes and eliminating manual data entry.

This role requires in-office attendance in San Francisco three days a week, with two days of remote work flexibility.

Your Responsibilities:
Oversee the technical framework for our invoicing platform, ensuring the sustainability of the solutions developed by the team.

Design and structure data models and systems that manage currencies and revenue, ensuring an accurate and current representation of the financial outcomes related to our client services.

Engage in coding and code reviews, serving as a mentor for engineers at all levels on best practices in software development.

Address complex system-level challenges, prioritizing simplicity and durability in design.

As we transition services from a monolithic architecture, we take pride in disentangling legacy code and rebuilding with a focus on modularity.

Facilitate the onboarding and mentoring of engineers.

We emphasize structured onboarding and mentorship to ensure a seamless integration into the team and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications:
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.

A robust technical background, ideally as a Staff, Senior Staff, or Principal Engineer.

Experience in architecting and developing complex, enterprise-level systems within a multi-tiered, distributed environment.

Proven experience as a technical leader, guiding a team of engineers through intricate technical decision-making processes.

The ability to communicate technical concepts in layman's terms to business stakeholders, product managers, designers, and fellow engineers.

A keen interest in expanding your technical toolkit. We welcome candidates from diverse technical backgrounds, though our platform is primarily built using React and Ruby, utilizing GraphQL and gRPC/Protobuf for communication.

It is essential for us to bring together individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences, alongside industry veterans, to propel this sector forward. Flexport is dedicated to simplifying global trade for everyone, as we believe it can foster connections and dismantle economic barriers.
