Role Summary

The Human Resources Generalist plays a vital role in managing the daily HR operations at Best Choice Products. This position encompasses a range of responsibilities including recruitment, onboarding, timekeeping, and HR administration. The HR Generalist serves as a key contact for all HR-related inquiries, including payroll, benefits, and employee relations, while collaborating with corporate headquarters. This role is essential in fostering a positive workplace culture and enhancing the employee experience.

Reporting Structure

The Human Resources Generalist reports directly to the Human Resources Manager or the Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) and collaborates with team members across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a proactive HR resource for employees and management, addressing inquiries and providing support for various HR functions.
  • Assist supervisors with the time and attendance system to ensure accurate tracking of employee hours.
  • Manage employee relations matters, conducting thorough investigations and supporting disciplinary processes as necessary.
  • Oversee the onboarding and offboarding processes for new hires and departing employees.
  • Coordinate and facilitate employee engagement initiatives and events.
  • Ensure adherence to the Employee Handbook and communicate HR policies and procedures to staff.
  • Stay informed about federal, state, and local employment laws to maintain compliance and best practices.
  • Support the Training & Development Specialist in tracking mandatory training and professional development activities.
  • Address employment-related inquiries from applicants and employees, escalating complex issues as needed.
  • Participate in Safety and Engagement Committees to promote a safe and engaging work environment.
  • Manage workers' compensation claims and employee leaves of absence.
  • Maintain OSHA logs to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Prepare and update employment records throughout the employee lifecycle.
  • Exercise discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
  • Build and maintain relationships with staffing agencies for temporary employee placements.
  • Coordinate recruitment efforts for full-time positions, including pre-screening and interview scheduling.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred; relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in an HR role, preferably within a warehouse or distribution center environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
  • Commitment to acting with integrity and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Thorough understanding of employment laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with HRIS and talent management systems; experience with ADP Workforce Now is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a sedentary role and adapt to flexible hours as needed.
