Position Overview:
The Senior Cybersecurity Systems Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting Special Access Programs (SAPs) within the acquisition framework of SMC and AFSPC.
This role involves providing essential support for Collateral, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), and Special Access Program (SAP) operations to ensure compliance with NIST Cybersecurity standards for system assessment and authorization.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead a dedicated team of System Security Engineers and Certification and Accreditation Analysts to safeguard national and international security interests throughout the design and testing phases of acquisition systems.
• Chair or Co-Chair cybersecurity working groups within the customer and SAP community, actively participating in System Security Engineering Integrated Product Team (SSE IPT) reviews.
• Oversee the creation, execution, and assessment of information system security program policies, with a strong focus on integrating existing SAP network infrastructures.
• Provide expert consultation and technical services on all facets of Information Security.
• Review designs related to System Security Engineering and offer compliance recommendations.
• Develop and present Cybersecurity risk management strategies to clients.
• Support the design and development of Mission and Training systems from a security perspective.
• Assist in the formulation and upkeep of the Program Protection Plan and Cybersecurity Strategy.
• Participate in site activation efforts and design evaluations, including system testing and assessment.
• Represent the Government Program Manager in various working groups, advisory councils, and related meetings focused on System Security Engineering.
• Collaborate directly with approval and accreditation authorities to secure Authorization to Operate for systems.
Qualifications:
• Active TS/SCI clearance is required.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in an SCI or SAR environment, with at least 4 years specifically in SAP-related roles is highly preferred.
• A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience (4 years) is necessary.
• Candidates must fulfill position and certification prerequisites as outlined in DoD Directive M for Information Assurance Technician Level 3 and Information Assurance Manager Level 3 within six months of hire.
• CISSP certification is recommended.
Additional Requirements:
• Familiarity with security policies/manuals and relevant ICDs/JAFANs/DOD Manuals is essential.
• Comprehensive understanding of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Joint SAP Implementation Guide (JSIG) processes for system accreditation, alongside legacy processes (DITSCAP, DIACAP).
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and effectively engage with various DOD, military/civilian personnel, and industry partners is crucial.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• A high degree of originality, creativity, and initiative with minimal supervision is expected.
• Willingness to travel within the organizational Area of Responsibility (AOR) is necessary, which may involve extensive air and ground transportation.
