We are seeking a Mental Health Specialist PRN who shares our passion for providing high-quality care in an institutional setting.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct comprehensive mental health screenings and assessments based on a thorough review of available records and clinical interviews with inmates.
  2. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers, to ensure integrated treatment activities and effective patient care.
  3. Develop, implement, and modify individual treatment plans based on a thorough evaluation of needs and level of functioning.
  4. Document treatment and evaluation activities in the health care record for each person seen.
  5. Provide consultation and recommendations to multidisciplinary staff regarding behavior and mental health issues affecting inmates.
  6. Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive materials and information at all times.
  7. Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of psychological counseling theory and techniques by way of treatments and activities used for individuals in caseload.
  8. Provide mental health assessments, counseling, and confrontation avoidance interventions to address the needs of inmates in crisis.
  9. Administer mental status exams or use other psychological tests and instruments as necessary to evaluate inmates' treatment, adjustment, and placement needs.

Qualifications

  • A graduate degree in social or behavioral science or a closely related field is required.
  • One year of experience providing mental health or counseling services is required.
  • Additional related work experience that includes direct provision of counseling services or training for same may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Must possess LSW, LPC, LCSW, or Psych Nurse (RN) licensing in Ohio.
  • A valid driver's license is preferred, unless required by contract or applicable statute.
  • Minimum age requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age.
