We are seeking a Mental Health Specialist PRN who shares our passion for providing high-quality care in an institutional setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive mental health screenings and assessments based on a thorough review of available records and clinical interviews with inmates.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers, to ensure integrated treatment activities and effective patient care.
- Develop, implement, and modify individual treatment plans based on a thorough evaluation of needs and level of functioning.
- Document treatment and evaluation activities in the health care record for each person seen.
- Provide consultation and recommendations to multidisciplinary staff regarding behavior and mental health issues affecting inmates.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive materials and information at all times.
- Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of psychological counseling theory and techniques by way of treatments and activities used for individuals in caseload.
- Provide mental health assessments, counseling, and confrontation avoidance interventions to address the needs of inmates in crisis.
- Administer mental status exams or use other psychological tests and instruments as necessary to evaluate inmates' treatment, adjustment, and placement needs.
Qualifications
- A graduate degree in social or behavioral science or a closely related field is required.
- One year of experience providing mental health or counseling services is required.
- Additional related work experience that includes direct provision of counseling services or training for same may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
- Must possess LSW, LPC, LCSW, or Psych Nurse (RN) licensing in Ohio.
- A valid driver's license is preferred, unless required by contract or applicable statute.
- Minimum age requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age.
