Auditor II

We are seeking a highly skilled Auditor II to join our team at the State of Maine, Bureau of Human Resources. As an Auditor II, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of financial records and transactions related to the Maine Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML) program.

• Conduct independent audits of governmental and private employers to determine compliance with PFML laws, rules, and regulations.
• Prepare audit reports and assemble audit schedules, tables, exhibits, and documentation to present audit findings and conclusions.
• Communicate with the public and employers to clarify PFML laws and administrative procedures.
• Recommend improvements to administrative, financial, or operational systems and procedures to ensure compliance with laws, rules, and regulations.
• Inspect and evaluate administrative and operational systems to identify lack of control, inefficiencies, duplication of effort, fraud, and/or non-compliance with controlling PFML laws, rules, and regulations.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
• Two years of experience in accounting/auditing, or a combination of education and experience at a professional auditing or accounting level.
• Knowledge of accounting and auditing theories, principles, and practices.
• Ability to communicate effectively and write clearly and effectively.

• A competitive salary range of $49,275 - $69,139.
