Job Description

The Project Engineer (Renewable Engineering) will play a key role in supporting project development and technical design for utility-scale solar projects in Invenergy's target markets.

Responsibilities:
  • Define project constraints and buildable area considering existing infrastructure, topography, hydrology, and subsurface ground conditions.
  • Prepare conceptual project layouts, optimizing layouts to maximize project value.
  • Analyze available meteorological datasets and apply long-term correlation to assess project resource characteristics.
  • Estimate project annual energy production, energy uncertainty, energy probability values, and time-based production profiles.
  • Conduct site visits to assess site suitability, participate in landowner meetings and community outreach events, and participate in monthly construction meetings.
  • Assist with federal, state, county, and local permitting efforts.
  • Support the preparation of project sales proposals.
  • Support project financing by responding to lender and independent engineer due diligence questions.
  • Interface with the Project Management, Project Electrical Engineering, and Operations teams leading up to and through project commercial operations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering or related technical discipline.
  • 3+ years of engineering or related technical discipline experience.
  • Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree is a plus.
  • Renewable Engineering experience is a plus.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage deliverables for multiple projects at a time.
  • Excellent verbal, writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated interest in renewable energy.
  • Desire to work in a dynamic environment alongside people with multiple interests and backgrounds.
  • Familiarity with resource and energy modeling software including PVsyst and SAM.
  • Familiarity with site design tools including AutoCAD and GIS software.
  • Knowledge of meteorological data sources, long term correlation methods, and other statistical analysis.
  • Knowledge of energy project economics and familiarity with concepts such as NPV, IRR and LCOE.
