Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert sales and use tax advisory and planning services to clients, with a focus on identifying solutions and making informed decisions.
  • Continued business development of the State and Local tax practice by generating new revenue on existing client portfolio, cross-selling, and growing new client relationships.
  • Serve as a Career Advisor, mentor, or coach to one or more employees, providing honest and timely performance feedback.
  • Integrate with clients, local and regional RSM SALT teams, the overall RSM tax team, and RSM audit and consulting colleagues.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or closely related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Requires one of the following: CPA, CMI, JD, or LLM.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience providing sales and use tax consulting services in a public accounting, consulting, or law firm.
  • Thorough knowledge of a variety of state and local sales and use tax laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Project management and critical thinking skills.
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills; ability to prioritize multiple assignments.
  • Manage complex sales and use tax consulting projects, including technical research memoranda, nexus studies, exposure quantification, voluntary disclosures, and other sales tax mitigation strategies.
  • Lead and manage the business relationship of complex engagements, focusing on high-value, quality tax advice and seeking to expand services to clients.

The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions, including education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
