We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Apprentice Nurse to join our dynamic team at Baystate Health, Western Massachusetts's premier healthcare provider. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in a fast-paced, acute care nursing environment while working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
This role is ideal for nursing students who are actively enrolled in an accredited RN program. As an Apprentice Nurse, you will function in a supportive role to a Registered Nurse, providing direct patient care, obtaining and recording vital signs, collecting laboratory specimens, and documenting intake/output. You will also have the opportunity to develop strong communication and organizational skills while promoting patient safety and functioning as a team member within the health system.
Schedule: The Apprentice Nurse will work a minimum of 200 hours annually, excluding orientation time. During the school year, this can be achieved by working 36 hours in a 12-week period, comprising 4, 8, or 12-hour shifts. In the summer, the schedule may involve 24 hours per week, fulfilled in an 8- or 12-hour shift, with a weekend requirement of 24 hours every four weeks.
Requirements:
- A high school degree or equivalent is required.
- You must be currently enrolled and participating in an accredited Registered Nurse nursing program.
- A current American Heart Association BLS for the Health Care Provider CPR Certification is required.
- Successful completion of one clinical rotation (including Fundamentals) or six months of applicable direct patient care experience is necessary.
