Position Overview

The objective of this position is to design and implement firmware and microcontroller subsystems for Astera Labs' System on Chip (SoC) and related products. The firmware plays a crucial role in delivering the unique features of Astera Labs' offerings, making it as vital as the hardware itself. The firmware team frequently interacts with clients to ensure a comprehensive understanding of their requirements.

Essential Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science is essential, with a Master's degree being advantageous.
  • At least 5 years of experience in supporting or developing intricate SoC/silicon products tailored for Server, Storage, or Networking applications.
  • Proficient in developing firmware for on-chip microcontrollers as well as C-language software development kits (SDKs) for system management controllers.
  • Experience collaborating with logic designers to design and validate hardware-software interfaces on complex SoCs.
  • Eligibility to work in the US and readiness to commence work immediately.

Required Skills

  • Strong expertise in C (preferred) or C++, particularly in the development of C-based SDKs.
  • Proficient in Python for automating pre-processing and post-processing tasks as well as firmware quality control.
  • Familiarity with software and firmware build environments, including gcc/Make, Doxygen, and GitHub.
  • Hands-on experience with Server, Storage, or Networking equipment, such as Network Switches.
  • Understanding of SoC interfaces with common IP blocks like PCIe Controllers, DDR Controllers, NVME Controllers, AMBA/AHB interfaces, and on-chip memory interfaces.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in developing firmware for on-chip microcontrollers and C-language SDKs for system management controllers.
  • Background in creating embedded firmware for PCIe or Ethernet Switch products.
  • Involvement with industry forums and collaborative workgroups such as OCP and OpenBMC.

The salary range for this position is between $120,000.00 USD and $190,000.00 USD. The final salary will be determined based on factors such as location, experience, and compensation of employees in similar roles.
