About the Role
The Crowne Plaza Baton Rouge is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Banquet Captain to join our team. As a Banquet Captain, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of banquets and events, providing exceptional customer service, and leading a team of banquet staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Banquet Manager in the complete operation of the Banquet Department, ensuring that all events are executed to perfection.
- Coordinate every aspect of the Banquet staff during all food and beverage service, ensuring that guests receive exceptional service.
- Assign banquet waitstaff and set up staff with tasks before a function begins, ensuring that all staff are aware of their responsibilities.
- Manage banquet wait staff break and work schedules to ensure that functions are properly staffed, and that staff are able to take breaks as needed.
- Supervise banquet staff to ensure that they are operating effectively and efficiently, and that customer satisfaction is met.
- Manage banquet staff to ensure end-of-day cleanup and preparations for the next day, maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Manage room setup prior to the function and breakdown, ensuring that all equipment and supplies are in place.
- Create a Captain's report for any function with food or beverage, detailing any issues or concerns.
- Check the setup of the room with 100% accuracy to BEO within the specified time period prior to the function start time, ensuring that all details are correct.
- Check food and beverage with 100% accuracy within the specified time period prior to function start time, ensuring that all items are in place.
- Complete Food and Beverage Reports and Restaurant Checklists, when applicable, to ensure that all necessary documentation is completed.
- Relay all event orders to on-site banquet staff members, ensuring that they are aware of their duties and responsibilities.
Requirements
- At least 1 year in a supervisory role in hospitality or banquet service, with a proven track record of success.
- Over 3 years experience managing a team in a hospitality role, preferably in a food service capacity, with a strong focus on customer service.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience, with a higher education degree in hospitality or hospitality management being a plus.
- Proven customer service experience as a manager, with a strong guest-focused mentality.
- Excellent communication skills for working with clients and other team members, with the ability to effectively communicate with staff and guests.
- Possess excellent computer skills, especially MS Office - Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to effectively use technology to manage events and staff.
