Job Title: CT Scan Technologist

Job Specialty: Imaging

Job Duration: 17 weeks

Shift: 13-week assignment, mostly 1 PM - 11:30 PM, some 11 AM - 9:30 PM or 9 AM - 7:30 PM, 4x10s, every other weekend. Thanksgiving holiday required 1 PM - 11:30 PM. No call, no float.

Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week

Experience: Six months of CT experience preferred

License: NJ DEP Diagnostic Radiography License, ARRT Certified R.T.(R) license required

Certifications:

  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within three months of hire
  • Team members must achieve ARRT (CT) certification within twelve months following their hire date

Must-Have:

  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and radiological positioning
  • Understanding of CT software and hardware
  • Proficiency in PACS system
  • Maintenance of CEU Credits

Job Description:

Responsibilities:

  • Perform complex CT procedures and produce sectional and three-dimensional images for interpretation
  • Utilize professional judgment when reviewing and obtaining a patient's clinical history for procedures
  • Prepare, screen, and review the accuracy of the contrast questionnaire with the patient or family member
  • Identify and/or administer contrast media for CT exams as prescribed
  • Verify the appropriateness of exam prescriptions and communicate with relevant professionals if updates are needed
  • Confirm insurance authorized exam scripts and coordinate with finance for insurance re-verification
  • Obtain and schedule outside studies (CD) in the system for comparison by radiologists
  • Provide exam copies to the patient and the requesting physician or family member
  • Evaluate radiographs using the PACS system to ensure proper identification and diagnostic value
  • Use appropriate techniques to gather relevant information to prepare for scanning and ensure patient safety
  • Determine if the patient is appropriately prepared for the procedure, including prepping with shielding and immobilization devices
  • Decide on the appropriate type and dose of contrast to be administered
  • Provide clear explanations and instructions to the patient as needed
  • Perform venipuncture, IV patency, and maintenance procedures as per guidelines
  • Monitor the patient's condition for any adverse reactions during the procedure
  • Commit to scheduled shifts, including holidays and weekends
  • Adhere to policies on employee ID, standards of behavior, attendance, and punctuality
  • Lift a minimum of 25 lbs., push and pull a minimum of 50 lbs., and stand a minimum of 6 hours a day
  • Adjust care to meet the specific needs of the patient population served
  • Communicate effectively with patients and their caregivers according to their level of understanding
  • Adhere to the standards identified in the organizational competencies and standards of behavior
