Responsibilities


The Registered Nurse is accountable for delivering safe patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

Providing direct patient care within the defined scope of practice is essential. The Registered Nurse also leads and instructs patient and family education while overseeing the activities of other nursing staff, ensuring adherence to professional nursing standards in Telemetry.

Accountability for the care provided to patients in the Emergency Department lies directly with the Registered Nurse.

Effective communication with physicians regarding changes in patients' clinical conditions, including diagnostic results and symptomatology, is crucial.

The Registered Nurse must be adept at responding swiftly and accurately to changes in patient conditions and treatment responses. Knowledge of EMTALA regulations and the reporting of child/adult abuse to the appropriate agencies and Hospital Social Worker is required. Maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality is paramount.


Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
  • Current and valid state RN License.
  • Current BLS certification upon hire and maintenance of certification.
  • Current ACLS certification within 30 days of hire and maintenance of certification.
  • Current PALS certification and/or ENPC within 30 days of hire and maintenance of certification.
  • Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation certification within 30 days of hire.
  • A minimum of one year of experience as a staff nurse RN in an acute care hospital setting; Emergency Room experience preferred.
  • Certification as an Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Facility Specific Requirements:

  • In Paramedic Base Station ED: MICN certification within 12 months of hire and maintenance of certification.
  • For 2 EDAP certified facilities: Completion of emergency pediatric courses 1 and 2 within 6 months of hire.
  • For 3 Non-OB facilities: NRP certification within 90 days of hire and maintenance of certification.
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) completion within 12 months of hire is required.
